Watercolor

No one ever quite knows how watercolor will behave, and many watercolor artists find this unpredictability one of its greatest assets. The medium itself will often begin to “take over” a painting, suggesting ways of creating interesting effects and lending a sparkle and spontaneity to the work. | Hazel Harrison

Introduction to Watercolors

Students will begin by using watercolors, as they learn about the seven Art Elements, not because they are easy to control, by no means, but because, for young students, they are easy to set up and clean up. Besides, the fluid and “capricious” nature of the medium is one children are often enamored with, as they spontaneously apply bright swimming pigments on the paper.
